Questions about coaching

Is coaching right for me?

Do you want to take responsibility for your own issues and find your own solutions? Do you want competent and empathetic support at your own level during this process? Then coaching is probably the right option for you. If you're unsure, feel free to schedule a free initial consultation with me.

What questions can be clarified in coaching?

I've summarized some issues that might be a reason for coaching on the Topics & Tools page. Perhaps you recognize yourself in one of the questions, or perhaps you have a completely different topic to address.

What is the difference between coaching and psychotherapy?

Coaching involves pursuing specific concerns and goals within a relatively short period of time. The prerequisite for this is that the client is mentally stable. A coach can neither diagnose nor treat mental illnesses. Coaching is therefore not a substitute for psychotherapeutic or psychiatric treatment. Furthermore, the costs of coaching are not covered by health insurance. Since coaching is not a protected profession, you should definitely pay attention to your professional integrity.

Do I commit to coaching with the preliminary consultation?

No. The initial consultation is free and non-binding. Trust plays a key role in coaching, which is why both parties should have the opportunity to get to know each other beforehand. During the initial consultation, the coachee gains an impression of the coach's personality, attitude, working style, and methodology. The coach, in turn, gains insight into the coachee's topics and can answer any questions.

How much does a session cost?

A single 90-minute coaching session costs €180 (€120/hour). This price applies to both online and offline coaching sessions. Sessions can be shorter or longer upon request. You can find more information about pricing and packages here.

Will my health insurance cover my coaching?

Unfortunately, coaching is not covered by statutory health insurance. The reason for this is that treatment costs are only covered if there is a psychological disorder requiring treatment according to the ICD-10. For business coaching, employers may be able to cover the costs, for example, as part of their continuing education budget.

How long does a session last and how often is it best?

My experience has shown that 90-minute sessions have the greatest impact. Depending on your wishes and concerns, a session can also last 60 minutes or two hours. I recommend scheduling a little more time to allow for more flexibility during the session and immediately afterward. It has proven effective to conduct coaching sessions at intervals of one to four weeks.

How many sessions do you usually need?

The total duration of the process varies greatly from individual to individual. A process can be completed in 3 to 10 or more sessions. For certain issues, 1 to 2 sessions may be sufficient. Your coach can usually provide an initial estimate of the duration of the process after the initial consultation. However, the actual number of sessions is ultimately up to you.

Until when can I cancel a session?

Your appointment is reserved for you. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the appointment. For sessions canceled after that time and that I can no longer reassign, I will charge 50% of the session fee.

Is there a duty of confidentiality?

Where does the coaching take place?

The vast majority of my coaching sessions take place online via Zoom: you can seamlessly integrate them into your daily routine and aren't dependent on location. It's important for an online session that you have a private space and feel safe during the session.

Can the coaching sessions also take place in other languages?

There is no legal obligation of confidentiality for coaches. This makes my personal promise to you all the more important: everything discussed in our coaching sessions will remain between us.

If you wish, the coaching can also take place in English, German or Russian.
